Sony expects to sell 15 million PS3s by the end of this fiscal year

Posted By | On 15th, Dec. 2011

Sony wants to sell 15 million PS3s this fiscal year, and they had the same target last year, which they almost missed. They were going to miss this year’s target too but they dropped PS3’s price by $50. So will they meet the projection? They believe so.

Andrew House, head of SCE has said that they are selling more than they expected to Reuters. He didn’t mention anything about Vita’s sales.

He admitted that the Vita is bringing them loss with each hardware sold, and the profit will depend on currency rates.

Sony did well in the month of November selling 900k PS3s, which should have boosted them a lot. It will be tough to sell 15 million though as they need a strong last quarter of sales.
