Sony has revealed its financial results for the third quarter of the fiscal year which is the period between October 1 and December 31. They have revealed that the PS4 had shipped 9 million units in this quarter, which means that a total of 76.5 million units had been shipped by December 31. Additionally, the company has also been enjoying financial success with its Games and Network Services.

The shipment of PS4 consoles is 0.7 million lower than what it was in the previous year but this is to be expected since the console has been out for a few years now. However, the company has reported an increase in revenue thanks to the increase in software sales which includes sales on the PlayStation Network. Sony has also announced their forecast for the fiscal year which ends on March 31, and the prediction for hardware shipments remains the same at 19 million units. They did however reduce their predictions regarding total revenue during the fiscal year citing reasons such as delayed game releases.

Overall, it has been quite a good year for the PS4, all things considered, and we’ll have to wait and see if things go as predicted  for the remaining quarter of the fiscal year.
