Yesterday saw a lot of big news from Sony in regards to the PlayStation 5. From many of its hardware features to its holiday 2020 release window, it’s the most substantial info we’ve heard about the system yet. However, it wasn’t all good news in PlayStation world, as reportedly, during that same time, a lot of layoffs came from the EU side of SIE.

As reported via VGC, “dozens” of Sony Europe employees were unexpectedly laid off on the same day the PS5 announcement took place (an exact number of employees was not given). Many European employees at the computer reportedly were not even aware of the Wired article that revealed the PS5 details.

It seems this was part of a restructuring going on at Sony, something that has been rumored according to reports for some time, with the American branch having a stronger influence than years past. It’s unfortunate and hopefully those people manage to find their footing.
