If a recent job listing is anything to go by Sony are currently working around the clock for improving the PlayStation 4 and other PlayStation platforms, whilst implementing new technologies. Sony PlayStation is currently looking for a candidate that has in-depth knowledge of several middleware tools and engines. The candidate needs to have an understanding how Bullet Physics Engine, CRI Middle-ware, CryENGINE, FMod and other tools/engines work. In short Sony are looking for a tech heavy weight who is ultimately a jack of all trades.

Furthermore, the candidate needs to have skills in code efficiency and performance optimization, which is a clear giveaway that Sony might be working on improving its custom API, the PSSL [PlayStation Shader Language]. The candidate also needs to integrate support for new PlayStation technologies as well as implementing it in a variety of in-house and 3rd party middle-ware.

It’s interesting that the word new is being used here. Is it possible that Sony are working on a new technology that is not public yet? Or it might very well be a developer specific thing. Your guess is as good as mine. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments section below and stay tuned for more news and updates.
