As previously reported on, Sony’s PlayStation brand had enjoyed a successful year in 2014, selling in excess of 14 Million PS4’s to gamer’s the world over. It would appear as though they finally intend on truly building on what has become one of their most important business sectors.

Sony’s Chief Financial Officer Kenichiro Yoshida has said that they will “aggressively invest” in the business in 2015. The install base is climbing, PlayStation Plus subscriptions “currently exceed 10 million” users and it shows no signs of slowing.

Mr Yoshida has said that in the fiscal year of 2015, Sony invested 89 Billion Yen into R&D for the PlayStation brand, and they’re looking to expand upon that. For Fiscal Year 2015, Sony is expecting a “double digit expansion” of those figures for both their hardware and software.

While the company could be described as struggling, they show no signs of stepping out of the console space any time soon, and with numbers like that, it’s really no surprise.
