If there was ever any doubt that Sony is absolutely dominating sales when it comes to Japan and other Asian markets, recent sales charts by major Japanese retailer Tsutaya reveals that not only PS4 games but also PS3 games are still absolutely dominating all comers. Obviously, some of the games are ones that are only going to be popular in very specific markets, but it’s still interesting to see just how popular the Sony gaming platforms are compared to Nintendo’s as well as the Xbox One and Xbox 360.
At the top of the list is a PS3 game, Pro Evolution Soccer 2016. Coming in a close second is FIFA 16 for the PS4 which shouldn’t be a real surprise considering that game has spent time on top of other sales charts. Perhaps the most … (impressive? hilarious) part of this sales chart is that even a PS Vita game is sitting near the top of the chats and beating out a number of Wii U games as well as all other Xbox One games. Tokyo Xanadu is that PS Vita game and it comes in third.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2016 for the PS4 is fourth and the just released Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection rounds out the top five. The first game that isn’t one that is predominantly played on a Sony gaming device comes in at the number six slot. Super Mario Maker for the Wii U holds that honor. Other notable games in the top 15 include Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain at 14 a for the PS4 and Splatoon for the Wii U at spot number 15. The biggest news regarding this list is the complete lack of Microsoft games anywhere on the top 20 list.
