Jack Tretton, the president of Sony Computer Entertainment America revealed today that, in the wake of the recent shortage of PlayStation 4s, he gave up the console that his position entitled him so that one of Sony’s loyal fans could get their deserved access to the all new system. Tretton was quoted in a recent PlayStation Blogcast:
“It breaks my heart if somebody’s got $400 in hand and they want a PS4 but we can’t sell them one. Well, to that point, I don’t have one yet because I’m like ‘No, sell it.'”
Way to go, Jack Tretton. Sony executive or not that is the right attitude to have. It’s incredibly refreshing to see a higher up in the gaming industry exhibit such selflessness. And regardless of whether or not it’s just a PR stunt, at the end of the day, there’s one more console available to gamer who deserves it. Hats off to you, Sony executive team.
