Sony is reportedly working on a pair of wireless earbuds that can be used with the PlayStation 5. According to Insider Gaming, sources have indicated that the earbuds will hit store shelves towards the end of financial year 2023, which essentially means between April 2023 and March 2024.
Internally referred to as Project Nomad, the earbuds will reportedly feature 5 hours of battery life, and will come with a charging case that can be recharged through a USB-C cable. The same cable can also be used to update the firmware on the earbuds.
Project Nomad is reported to be accompanied by a new wireless headset, dubbed Voyager. Set to be similar to Project Nomad, Voyager will likely be the flagship headphones for the PlayStation 5.
It is worth noting that one of the key features of the PS5 is its Tempest 3D Audio capabilities, which can make use of any earphones or headphones to provide a simulation of 3D audio, assuming the game you’re playing can support the feature.
Sony has historically launched its own series of headphones for PlayStation consoles since the PS4.
