Sony Trademarks Mysterious New PlayStation Logo

Is a PlayStation branded music service incoming?

Our friends at DualShockers, it seems, are always on the lookout for new Sony patent and trademark filings, and they have done it again- they have found a Sony trademark registration for a new PlayStation logo. Curiously enough, this logo, that you can see above, seems to indicate something to do with audio.

The actual filing tells us nothing, except that it has to do with electronic machinery. Which implies that a line of PlayStation branded headsets may actually be incoming soon, and this is the logo for that (this would also not be the first time that they have used the PlayStation brand on hardware other than the consoles and handhelds- remember the PlayStation branded TVs they put out a few years ago?). Conversely, it could also be a logo for some sort of upcoming PlayStation branded music service. Such a service would cannibalize their Music Unlimited service, but to be fair, PlayStation does have greater brand recognition.

Or maybe this would be exclusively for video game music?

Whatever it is, we’ll keep you posted. Stay tuned.
