Sony officially announced that it was bringing a couple of new models of the PS4 to the market, at least in Japan and Europe, this year. Today the company pointed out that the box art for the new models had changed a bit as well. The changes had actually been on display since the announcement of the lighter 500GB PS4 as well as the 1TB PS4 but it appears people were paying a bit more attention to what the console can do.

The new box art will be used for both the Glacier White and Jet Black versions of the new console according to the official page. The new box art has the same basic color scheme as what PS4 fans remember, though the “wave” of shapes that flows across the front of the box now starts in different place and goes all the way across, which is a slight change from the original design. The picture of the console has also been moved so it is more centered the the name of the device is now placed over the picture as opposed to the left of the Playstation 4. It should be pointed out that while the changes are far from drastic the new design does appear to be a bit more aesthetically pleasing, if for no other reason than the picture is indeed centered better on the box than what the first versions showed.

The new lighter PS4 is due out in Japan later this month while the 1TB version is expected to hit Europe in July. Neither version has a US release date yet.
