During the latest Nintendo Direct, a new gameplay trailer for first person shooter Splatoon 3 was revealed. It focuses on Salmon Run (dubbed Salmon Run Next Wave), a co-op mode for up to four players which involves taking on Salmonids in wave-focused defense and collect special eggs. Check it out below.

While it functions much like the second game, there’s a new boss Salmonid that can appear and make things more difficult. Players can also throw eggs to one another, thus cutting down on the time to collect them. A mysterious, imposing new foe is teased near the end but we don’t see much of it in action.

The gameplay trailer also confirms another important detail, namely the release of Splatoon 3 this Summer for Nintendo Switch. That means it should release between June 21st and September 23rd. Stay tuned for more details and gameplay footage in the coming months.
