If you haven’t already tried your hand at Nintendo’s successful multiplayer shooter Splatoon on the Wii U, then you’re in luck. As part of a weekend Testfire event, Nintendo will be releasing a free demo of Splatoon for Wii U owners to try out.

The event began yesterday at 3 PM PST/6 PM ST and is expected to conclude at 5 PM PST/8 PM EST on August 23rd. You can head over to the Nintendo eShop now to download it – the demo should already be unlocked and ready to go.

As for the demo’s contents, it will allow players to try out the multiplayer mode Turf War on several different maps. And honestly, if you enjoy it at all, it’s worth your while to pick up the full game.

Having sold 1.6 million units at release, Splatoon has been met with positive reviews from critics for its unique take on multiplayer shooters. It’s also frequently updated with free content including an upcoming Transformers tie-in event on August 28th.
