Sports Connection Official Launch Trailer Hypes Up Gameplay

Ubisoft's latest for the Wii U is - surprise! - a sports game.

Admit it: When you first laid eyes on the Wii U’s line-up, you immediately thought, “Where are all the family friendly sports games?”

Well, they haven’t gone anywhere as the launch trailer Ubisoft’s Sports Connection shows. The game, which is touted as being good fun for the family and friend (until, obviously, some one gets hurt) features six different sports for players to lose themselves in. To their credit, at least the sports are marginally more different than the standard fare we’ve seen from Wii Sports and Kinect Sports.

Along with the standard fare of tennis, golf baseball and American soccer, you’ll also have American football and go-karting. So basically two new choices. Huh.

All of these sports can be played either alone or with a friend, with both multiplayer competitions and co-operative modes coming into player. Of course, Sports Connection takes advantage of the Wii U Gamepad’s functionality, if only slightly.

The game is now available for the Wii U in the UK.
