If you owned the PlayStation Portable last generation, then you are doubtless familiar with Dissidia: Final Fantasy: a series of fighting games made by Square Enix exclusively for Sony’s handheld, it was like their version of Super Smash Bros. for Final Fantasy, featuring multiple characters across all games, heroes and villains, squaring it off against each other.

The first game was followed by an even more successful sequel, one that quite literally encompassed everything the first game achieved, and then took it to the next level with all of its innovations. If you have been expecting the next entry in the franchise, you got it- Square Enix have announced Dissida Final Fantasy for arcades at JAEPO 2015.

Not much else is known about it, as this story is still developing, but we will keep you posted for sure. Oh, and for those of you who are about to start raging at Square Enix because you wanted a console or handheld version of the game, relax: it is norm for fighting games in Japan to get arcade versions first, before being released on consoles a while later. A release on consoles or handhelds is not entirely out of the question.
