Square Enix CEO Says Company Putting ‘Considerable’ Resources Into Marvel’s Avengers Project

Square Enix is sparing no expense for their own Avengers Initiative

Square Enix was thrilled to announce its partnership with Marvel earlier this year, and now we know just how excited they are to work with what is currently one of the largest entertainment properties around.

While we still only know a few tidbits about the game, including that it’s under development at Crystal Dynamics with backing of Eidos Montreal, and will feature an original storyline introducing a universe for players to enjoy for several years, we can probably also expect Square Enix’s Avengers Project to follow the Game as a Service model that the company has said they’re keeping in mind going forward.

One interesting quote does come to us from Gamesindustry, where CEO Yosuke Matsuda speaks about the resources going into development, and that the upcoming game is quite impressive. “I can’t really go into specific numbers, but I can say we’re dedicating considerable development resources to them, especially out of the Western studios. I believe that the level of the game that we’re developing right now, as far as I have seen, is amazing and you’ll be seeing news about it going forward,” he stated.

It’s likely we’re going to see something from this coming next year, as they’ll want to try to ship the game at the peak of the Avengers hype train between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, giving them a short 1 year window from May 2018 to May 2019.
