"The PS3 market has almost diminished to nothing.”

Star Oceans 5

Square Enix has tons of goodies for us in the coming year and one of them is Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness. The game is set to release in Japan in winter and in the United States sometime in 2016. Interestingly enough the developers are also releasing a PlayStation 3 version of the game , which will be launched only in Japan.

Speaking to Destructoid, Star Ocean 5 producer Shuichi Kobayashi stated, “It’s simple. The PS3 still has a fairly large market in Japan, but in the West, particularly the United States, people have just moved on to PS4. The PS3 market has almost diminished to nothing.”

Square Enix isn’t done with the last gen consoles, but it may not focus much of its resources in the future to it, seeing that a number of companies are looking towards the current crop of consoles. Do you think there is still potential for the last gen consoles?
