Square Enix Files Trademark For Project Called “Forspoken”

Sounds very Final Fantasy-ish.

Square Enix

While Square Enix has branched out a lot in various genres and other franchises, their Final Fantasy series continues to be their crown jewel. Final Fantasy 16 has finally been officially announced, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project is off to a roaring good start, and Final Fantasy 14 continues to be an ongoing success. Now the company has trademarked a new project that feels very Final Fantasy in nature.

As you can see below, it was revealed that Square has filed a new trademark in Japan. All we know about the project is that it’s called Forspoken. Now there’s nothing explicitly tying this to Final Fantasy, that definitely feels like something for that franchise, with my money being on the next expansion for Final Fantasy 14.

It could also be related to Project Athia, the somewhat mysterious title that was revealed alongside the PS5, or it could be something entirely new, though it’s hard to imagine even Square Enix releasing a standalone game called Forspoken, but stranger things have happened. We’ll just have to stay tuned and see what it ends up being.
