Star Wars Battlefront 2 is coming in Holiday 2017 as re-affirmed by EA in its latest earnings call. CEO Andrew Wilson noted that it would be “bigger” than its predecessor with more locations, more heroes and a single-player campaign (which has finally been outright confirmed).
The sequel will feature content from “multiple Star Wars eras” and while it wasn’t specified whether The Force Awakens and Rogue One would be included, Wilson did say they were examples of films that helped expand the series.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 won’t just be developed by DICE – Jade Raymond’s Motive Studios and Criterion are also helping with development, thus lending credence to it being bigger than the first game.
Star Wars Battlefront released in November 2015 and received its fair share of mixed responses. Many praised the visuals, atmosphere and focus on classic Star Wars properties while others criticized the limited content, options and balance. It was still a huge success though with 14 million units shipped as of May 2016.
