In its latest financial report for the fiscal quarter, Electronic Arts revealed that DICE’s Star Wars: Battlefront would sell 13 million units by the end of fiscal year 2016. Earlier, the company had forecast 9 to 10 million units by the same period.

The enthusiasm for Battlefront is obvious though – the recent open beta had more than 9.5 million players take part and EA’s continual engagement in social media is paying off. CEO Andrew Wilson said pre-order numbers were “excellent” and that there’s plenty of interest from younger players.

EA also expect Star Wars: Battlefront to achieve strong sales into fiscal year 2017 and have a “long tail” due to the four expansion packs coming after launch.

Star Wars: Battlefront is out on November 17th for North America and November 20th for Europe on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. What are your thoughts on the game? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information as we near release.
