Is it really surprising that Star Wars: Galactic Racer has blazed a path to critical acclaim given its pedigree and clearly inspired take on pod racing?

It’s clear the team respected the racers they were making the game for. That respect led to a title that was always meant to challenge you, and it’s an adrenaline-fueled romp we found very impressive. We praised its racing mechanics and other things in our own review, and other publications echo those sentiments.

It’s been widely praised as a great arcade racer, as well as a great take on pod racing that feels true to its inspirations while still leaving enough room for some creative flourishes and, of course, races that are meant to have you locked in and weaving between obstacles and other racers in a deadly dance where a single mistake can mean certain death, and worse, the loss of all your hard-earned progress. You might think our priorities need rearranging, but we can assure you this one makes you feel the heartbreak of crashing out of a tournament quite well.

But that’s a problem for later, and the recently-released accolades trailer should have more than enough reasons to take the plunge.
