Star Wars: Galactic Racer offers a strong single-player component, but online players have several multiplayer modes, including Quick Race and Quick Podrace. However, perhaps the most notable parts are Multiplayer Tour and Podracing Tour.
In a new overview trailer from GameSpot, Fuse Games CEO Matt Webster goes over what they offer. Much like Story Mode, you’ll compete across five races, earning upgrades and winnings before the final (either on Derven Acos or Tatooine, depending on the Tour mode). The key difference is that you’re competing against up to 11 other players.
Each player can choose from multiple characters with unique Traits (more becoming available as you level up) and one of three vehicle types. Before a race, you can take on different Contracts that award parts and Credits. If that wasn’t enough, predicting your finish can net extra rewards depending on the bet.
Going all in and reaching the Top 3 nets a Legendary Reward, though there’s added pressure. Of course, you’ll net parts of varying rarities depending on your finishing position, so there’s always an incentive to compete. If you want a little extra trouble, you can mark rival racers and effectively “call them out” during a race.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer drops on October 6th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. You can learn more about the Story Mode and its branching objectives here.
