There was hardly any doubt that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor would enjoy impressive commercial success, given the pedigree of the IP its attached to and the excitement that surrounded the game’s release, and sure enough, it’s had an impressive start to life. Last week, it debuted on top of the UK weekly physical sales charts and also beat its predecessor’s peak concurrent users on Steam. And as you might imagine, that’s not the only area where it’s outdoing its predecessor.
As revealed by GamesIndustry’s Christopher Dring on Twitter, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has actually outsold Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order at launch in the UK by over 30%, when physical and digital sales are both accounted. That’s in spite of physical sales being down from what the predecessor managed, because the sequel as actually sold nearly twice as much as the first game where digital sales are concerned.
Not all has been smooth for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in the wake of its launch though. The game launched with numerous technical issues, with PC players in particular getting the worst of it, prompting developer Respawn Entertainment to assure fans that patches are incoming. The first of these was released for all platforms last week.
