Star Wars: Squadrons Sold 1.1 Million Digital Units in October

Ahead of Battlefront 2, but behind Jedi: Fallen Order.

Star Wars Squadrons

EA and developer Motive Studios took something of a risk with Star Wars: Squadrons, developing a more niche product focused only on space combat, pricing it below the usual standard $60, and including no microtransactions in the game whatsoever. The game launched to strong reception from critics and wider audiences alike, though, and that’s been reflected in its sales as well.

As per a recent report by SuperDataStar Wars: Squadrons had quite a successful debut month in October, as far as digital sales are concerned. The game sold a total of 1.1 million digital units across all of October, which puts it ahead of the digital launch sales of 2017’s Star Wars Battlefront 2, which sold 1.1 million digital units at launch. However, last year’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is still far ahead of the pack, with the game having sold 2.9 million digital units in its own debut month last November.

SuperData also notes that thanks to the game’s $40 price, its revenue generation fell behind other recent Star Wars title (the fact that there were no in-game purchases or DLC purchases must also have contributed to that).

Star Wars: Squadrons is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It is also playable on Xbox Series X/S and PS5 through backward compatibility, with the former in particular getting major frame rate boosts.

Even though the developers initially planned Squadrons as a one-and-done release with no plans to release additional content, they recently announced a bunch of DLC that will be added to the game for free very soon. Read more on that through here.
