Starcraft 2: Hearts of the Swarm to be ‘as Epic as Wings of Liberty’

Posted By | On 28th, Jul. 2010

Although the casual Starcraft gamer may not know it, Blizzard is going to release the entire Starcraft 2 experience in three stages. The base game, Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty, released earlier yesterday, and while it provides the complete experience as far as skirmishes and custom matches are concerned, its campaign mode is limited solely to the Terrans. The other two races will have their own campaigns released in the form of expansions later.

The first of these, Starcraft 2: Hearts of the Swarm, which focusses on the Zerg, is due later, though an exact release date is still unavailable. However, Blizzard is willing to commit to one thing: Hearts of the Swar will be every bit as epic as Wings of Liberty.

Speaking to CVG, Blizzard’s Lead Software Engineer Carl Chimes talked, albeit with great reluctance, about the upcoming expansion.

“We’re still in the development process on that and we haven’t even come close to announcing anything yet. Tonight we’re just focussing on Wings of Liberty,” he said.

However, when egged on, he added, “The next one will be Zerg-focussed and it will be just as epic as Wings of Liberty.”

That’s enough to be going along with for the time being.

Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty released yesterday, and it is epic. Watch this space, because we’re gonna have our review of the game up soon.
