Despite stiff competition, especially in the UK, Blizzard Entertainment’s Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm managed to sell 1.1 million units in 2 days since launching.

CEO Mike Morhaime stated that, “We want to thank the global StarCraft community for the incredible passion and support they’ve shown for Heart of the Swarm. In addition to a brand-new single-player campaign, we added a ton of enhancements with this expansion to make StarCraft II even more fun to play, and more exciting to watch.

“We’re pleased to see gamers and eSports fans around the world enjoying Heart of the Swarm.”

Twitch COO Kevin Lin also talked about the number of viewers who checked out launch events for the game on the video streaming site, with 1.1 million viewers in total and concurrent viewers hovering around 125,000 at a time.

Taking place after Wings of Liberty, Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm follows Sarah Kerrigan as she works to reunite the Zerg and take out the Terran forces.
