Starcraft Remastered Announced, Features Updated Visuals

Improved resolution support, re-recorded dialogue and more.

Blizzard has officially announced Starcraft Remastered, set to release in Q2 2017. It will include the base game and Brood War expansion.

As the name indicates, you can expect environments, buildings and units to have updated visuals, an overall better array of support for audio and resolutions and the ability to zoom in and out of battles. Blizzard even indicated that you would be able to see “the veins on a mutalisk’s wings”.

Then there are new comic book-style briefings between missions and re-recorded dialogue. Blizzard told Team Liquid that the current goals are to keep the trademark unit silhouettes and animations while filling details that the original sprites previously only hinted at. Consider this the same story but with a “fresh coat of paint”.
