Steam Box won’t be announced in 2013, may or may not be Linux-based

Steam-Box

Earlier we reported that Valve will be announced a new console in 2013, which they did, and also will be releasing it in 2013.

The console will also run on Linux it had been reported, but according to the Valve engineer who had supposedly revealed all this information to German site Golem.de, some of this information was plain exaggerated.

He said to Engadget that the console may or may not be Linux-based, and revealed that they were indeed testing on something like that but nothing is confirmed yet. He also revealed that the console won’t be releasing in 2013.

“With regards to the Steam Box news, there has been a lot of things that we are working on getting Steam into the living room, and are planning for a hardware box, but we have no current plans to announce anything in 2013.”

The Valve engineer in question was Ben Krasnow who it seems may have received directives from Valve not to indulge more information on the Steam Box. Or he simply could be saying the truth.
