Valve hasn’t officially confirmed or announced the same but it seems that Steam Gifting is being restricted between users across different regions. According to several Reddit users, Steam is now offering warnings regarding restrictions on gifting to other territories.

As of now, users located in Asia, South America and Eastern Europe won’t be able to send gifts to others located outside of their territories.

The reason Valve could be doing this is the very same reason that EA opted to increase game prices for Indian consumers. Some users tend to order from outside a certain region to take advantage of lower prices, especially with the changes in currency rates and whatnot. It seems Valve is just going to limit gifting, especially with the Holiday sale coming up, rather than increasing prices for other regions – something EA could learn from and implement into Origin.

What are your thoughts on the restrictions introduced into Steam’s Gifting system? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
