Valve has announced a change to its schedule of seasonal sales. Responding to popular requests from developers and publishers, Steam will be replacing its usual Lunar New Year Sale with a new Spring Sale as one of its four major seasonal sales. This change is set to kick off with the start of 2023.

Aside from requests from publishers and developers, the announcement also states that the new schedule allows for more space between the seasonal Steam sales, and allowing studios to better handle their discounting calendars.

Here’s the schedule for Steam’s upcoming sales:

  • Autumn Sale: November 23 to November 29
  • Winter Sale: December 22 to January 5
  • Spring Sale: March 16 to March 23

Valve has stated that its support for the new Spring Sale will be equivalent to how it supports its other seasonal sales. This includes a shift of the Steam home page to a new layout that highlights available discounts.

As for why the Lunar New Year Sale is going away, Valve has stated that it’s because of its proximity to the yearly Winter sale, which typically takes place from late December to early January.
