Ubisoft’s open world extreme sports title Steep won’t be seeing reviews before launch or at launch. The publisher announced that review copies would only be sent out on December 2nd to ensure that the servers are populated with players first.

On the UbiBlog, it was explained that, “To ensure a complete experience, Steep reviews will commence when servers are populated with actual players. With that in mind, reviewers will receive their copies of Steep on December 2 when it’s released, enabling them to experience Steep’s essential multiplayer functionality with a larger pool of online players.”

Currently, those who pre-order Steep can pre-load the game but it will only go live on December 2nd with all other players. Though the lack of reviews at launch is usually frowned upon, it’s becoming standard practice for online games like The Division, Destiny, The Crew and now Steep to provide the most “accurate” picture once servers are actually up.
