Stranger Than Heaven has given us a look at Yu Shinjo, a character who comes with a rather serious personality. He also has some bold ideas about how to carve out a name and place for himself where he feels like he belongs.
He serves as a close friend and rival to Makoto over the course of the story, which sees him rise from their shared poverty to what seems like wealth and affluence, creating a wedge between them over the years. His smug confidence might belie a shrewd and cunning mind that’s always calculating advantages even in the trickiest of situations, and he’s shaping up to be a man who doesn’t let systemic disadvantages get in the way of his aspirations. He seems the type who’d make great use of the game’s visceral combat to get his point across.
It’s going to be quite interesting to see how his bond with Makoto plays out, which is especially exciting when you factor in that he’s brought to life by none other than Dean Fujioka, a name that should sound quite familiar to all you Fullmetal Alchemist fans out there.
