No more unfair advantages to any territory.

Street Fighter 5

In what is thankfully increasingly becoming a trend with all games now, Capcom have confirmed that Street Fighter 5, the fifth generation of their venerable fighting game franchise, will have a simultaneous global launch. This means you won’t have to wait seething in envy while your Japanese friends get to go hands on with the game early!

“We will have a simultaneous [Street Fighter 5] release all across the world. No region will be late, and everyone will be able to play at the same time,” said Capcom’s Tamoaki Ayano.

“This is just a small expression of our gratitude to all of the people here in Hong Kong who’ve been supporting Street Fighter for so long,” added producer and director Yoshinori Ono.

Essentially, this means everybody gets to start at once, with no territory’s players getting an unfair advantage, an issue that has plagued fighting game releases in the past. For Capcom, which is increasingly looking to pitch Street Fighter V to a competitive community, that is perhaps essential.

Street Fighter V will launch exclusively on PC and PS4 next year.
