Capcom is riding high on the success of the recently released remake of Resident Evil 4 right now, but the company still has plenty more left in the pipeline for the coming weeks and months. Next up is Street Fighter 6, another new instalment in a heavyweight gaming franchise, and it seems that, ahead of its launch in June, players might soon get the chance to dip their toes in the water and see how it’s shaping up.

That’s as per Eiko Kano, a popular Japanese streamer who has made several appearances on Capcom TV, who let slip in a recent stream that Street Fighter 6 will be getting an open beta later on this month, having seemingly been unaware that Capcom hasn’t yet announced an open beta for the fighter in an official capacity (spotted by @drummania555 on Twitter, translations via @fubarduck).

Fighting games getting open betas prior to their release isn’t an uncommon occurrence by any means, to say the very least, and Capcom itself has almost never failed to give audiences a taste of their biggest upcoming releases ahead of launch, so most would have expected anyway that Street Fighter 6 would be getting an open beta at some point.

Given the fact that the game is out in early June, the timing of the beta, if this leak is accurate, seems about right as well. Of course, for now, we’re just going to have to wait on official word from Capcom.

Street Fighter 6 is due out on June 2 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PC.
