Subnautica: Below Zero Rated for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S by the ESRB

The underwater survival title could also be headed to newer hardware.

Subnautica Below Zero

The icy follow up to underwater open world survival title Subnautica, Subnautica: Below Zero, has been in early access for PC audiences for a while now, since early 2019. The game is confirmed to be releasing for PS4 and Xbox One upon its full launch, and when it was also confirmed for the Nintendo Switch last year, Unknown Worlds Entertainment confirmed a 2021 launch window for that full release.

Given that launch window, you’d assume that Subnautica: Below Zero will also release for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S as a cross-gen release, and it seems that assumption is probably going to be right. The game was recently rated by the ESRB, and while that’s significant in and of itself in that it might possibly get a release date announcement soon (games usually get rated close to their release), what’s also worth noting is that the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S are also mentioned as launch platforms for the game in the age rating.

As mentioned earlier, Subnautica: Below Zero is currently available on PC in early access, but it seems the developers might be gearing up for a full launch in the near future. Stay tuned for more updates.
