Subnautica

Unknown Worlds’ Subnautica first entered Steam Early Access several years ago with its underwater open world exploration and survival attracting heaps of praise. It’s finally out of Early Access and available in a finished state for PC players. Check out the cinematic launch trailer below.

The premise is simple – your ship crashes on a predominantly water-based planet. You have to dive down into the depths, avoiding all manner of dangerous sea creatures and salvaging materials to aid you. There’s plenty of eye candy along the way but there’s also a mysterious story that plays out via audio logs and strange visions.

Of course, you’re free to wander about and explore the world without paying attention to it. Subnautica is currently in the “Top Sellers” list which is good news given the fanfare behind it. Critics have also been praising the experience for its combination of mystery, exploration and outright horror.
