A little over six months since its launch, Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League continues to affect revenue for WB Games. Parent Warner Bros. Discovery has released its Q1 financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31st, 2025, and confirmed a 41 percent decline (ex-FX) in games revenue.

This was “primarily driven by the weak performance of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League,” especially compared to last year’s successful Hogwarts Legacy. Of course, CEO David Zaslav commented on the former’s performance in the previous quarter’s results (which contributed to a $200 million impact on the company’s revenue), calling it “disappointing.”

Overall, Warner Bros. Discovery reported a net loss of $10 billion for the quarter despite $9.7 billion in revenue. It includes $9.7 billion in “non-cash goodwill impairment charge from the Networks segment,” resulting from “the difference between market capitalization and book value, continued softness in the U.S. linear advertising market, and uncertainty related to affiliate and sports rights renewals, including the NBA.”

Before its Q2 financial results were revealed, reports indicated the company was considering selling a stake in its game business. Such rumors go as far back as 2022, but after the segment’s recent under-performance, Warner Bros. Discovery may finally go through with it. Stay tuned for updates in the meantime.
