Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has caught a lot of flak for being a live service game already, but developer Rocksteady Studios has nonetheless made plenty of promises about consistent post-launch support over the months following the game’s release. Of course, like any live service game, each season of content will also bring a new battle pass for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and in a recent Q&A over on the game’s official Discord channel (via MP1st), studio director Darius Sadeghian recently revealed new details on what to expect from the game on that front.

For starters, Sadeghian confirmed that battle passes in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be limited only to cosmetic rewards, as tends to be the case with most battle passes. Season 1’s battle pass will have 75 tiers, with rewards including banners, swatches, outfits, and emotes, as well as “some” premium currency that players can use in the in-game store, or “towards future battle passes.”

“The Battle Pass in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be cosmetics-only, have both a Premium and free track, and a new Battle Pass will be released with each Season,” Sadeghian wrote. “The first Battle Pass will be released with the launch of Season 1, a few weeks after the game’s initial release.

“There will be 75 tiers to complete in Season 1’s Battle Pass and included within will be Outfits, Emotes, Banners, Swatches, and some premium currency. This can be used to purchase cosmetic items in the store or go towards purchasing future Premium Battle Passes.”

Crucially, Sadeghian also revealed that, similar to what Halo Infinite did, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s battle passes won’t expire after seasons are over. In simple terms, once a season is done, you’ll still have the freedom to continue progressing in its battle pass and unlocking its rewards.

“We’re also happy to announce that you will be able to go back and play previous Battle Passes after a Season ends,” he said. “We believe that our team has created some of the best looking cosmetic items ever, and we want those to be available for our players to enjoy without fear that they’ll miss out on anything.”

Sadeghian went on to reiterate that each new season of the game will also bring new characters, Elseworld locations, weapons, missions, and more for free, even if you’re not paying for the premium battle pass.

“Each Season will have a new playable character, a new Elseworld to explore, LOADS of new gear, new missions to play and more all for free,” he said. “The Premium Battle Pass is an optional extra for those who want to look extra fly while kicking some Brainiac butt. And keep in mind, all purchasable items are completely optional and do not affect gameplay in any way.”

Season 1, which is set to launch in March, will add the Joker as a playable character, as well as Arkham Asylum and Gotham City as Elseworld locations. Meanwhile, the game will launch with Season 0, which will be Bane-themed.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launches on February 2 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with early access set to begin on January 30.
