Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s Reviews Won’t be Live Until After Launch

WB Games will be sending out review codes to select outlets, but only after the game's servers have gone live.

Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is just days away from launch, and usually around this time is when you’d be expecting reviews and impressions from critics- though it seems that’s not going to be the case with Rocksteady Studios’ upcoming open world looter shooter.

As per ComicBook.com’s Cade Onder on Twitter, review codes for the game haven’t yet gone out, and won’t be out until its servers are live on January 30, which is the date of the game’s early access launch. That means reviewers will start playing the game just two days ahead of its release, which means the vast majority of outlets won’t have their reviews and final impressions ready until at least a few days after release, depending on how long the game is and how meaty its endgame offerings are.

Review codes not being sent out ahead of launch isn’t completely unheard of, but neither is it common, especially for a major release. Combined with all the pre-release skepticism surrounding Suicide Squad, it should be interesting to see what sort of impact (if any) the lack of a fully formed critical consensus at launch will have on wider reception and performance.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launches globally on February 2 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
