Super Mario Odyssey Receives Amazing 39/40 Review From Famitsu

Japanese publication awards another great score for the upcoming Nintendo Switch exclusive.

Following its perfect 10 rating from EDGE Magazine, Nintendo’s upcoming Super Mario Odyssey has received a 39/40 review from Japanese publication Famitsu. The Nintendo Switch exclusive was rated by four reviewers who scored it a 10/10/9/10, thus making it one of the highest scoring Mario games of all time, if not one of the highest scoring video games.

While Famitsu could be taken with a grain of salt every now and then, it seems that Super Mario Odyssey will have plenty of positive momentum heading into its release. Indie titles are selling fairly well on the Nintendo Switch, the console itself has surpassed expectations and gameplay footage for Super Mario Odyssey has been incredibly compelling thus far.

Nintendo’s first party track record for the Switch has been pretty strong for this year with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, ARMS, Splatoon 2 and Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle having done well commercially and critically. After Super Mario Odyssey, the Switch will be receiving another big exclusive with Xenoblade Chronicles 2 in December.
