Supergiant Games, responsible for hits like Bastion and Transistor, will be returning with a brand new experience in 2017. Pyre is an intriguing mix of narration, dialogue choices, tactical role-playing and sports.

To further add-on to the campaign, Supergiant has announced a multiplayer mode for Pyre. It will see two players battling to extinguish each other’s celestial orb. Three Exiles can be chosen and switched out, each possessing the ability to sprint, carry the orb, use shields and much more. They’ll each have their own unique abilities and attributes however.

Versus mode will only be local-based since the studio isn’t sure it can implement online multiplayer prior to the game’s launch along with everything else. Thankfully, there will also be a Versus AI mode as well. It should be noted that the main focus is still on the campaign.

Pyre will be releasing for PC and PS4 in 2017. Here’s why it won’t be coming to the Xbox One.
