System Shock 2 25th Anniversary Remaster_04

After suffering a sudden delay, Nightdive Studios’ System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster will launch on July 10th for consoles. It will be available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch.

Currently available for PC, the remaster is based on the 1999 classic action RPG from Looking Glass Studios and Irrational Games. Players control a soldier onboard the Von Braun, who awakens from a cryopod to an infestation by an unknown alien parasite. Working with Dr. Janice Polito, they work their way through the structure, but things aren’t as they seem, and it isn’t long before an old friend comes calling.

System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster supports up to 4K resolution and 120 frames per second on Xbox Series X/S and PS5. It also features controller support, a revamped UI, and visually enhanced character models, environments and animations. You can also explore with other players via co-op (complete with cross-play).

Check out our review of the PC version for more details. We gave it a nine out of ten for retaining everything that made the original great while enhancing the experience.

UPDATE: System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster will release on Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch consoles on Thursday, July 10 and will include all of the patches that we’ll be releasing on PC platforms! ⚡
