The beleaguered multiplayer superhero action game is allegedly about to close up shop, with all future plans having reportedly been shelved.
A new report talks about Marvel's Avengers' many development issues, and claims there are currently no plans to release content for the game beyond next year.
The high-level endgame activity sees a team of four going up against a resurrected MODOK, and was first spoken of by Crystal Dynamics two years ago.
"I’ve had conversations in the last few weeks that paint a rather grim picture of the future," says known Avengers leaker Miller.

The deal will "enable further investments into making even greater games based on both established and new IPs," the company says.
Across its bevy of studios, the company intends to release 234 console and PC games in less than four years, of which 25 will be AAA projects.

Embracer Group also confirms that the open world title has "performed in line with management expectations in the quarter."
The mobile-focused studio was acquired by Embracer Group only a few months ago, and unveiled a rebranding less than a month back.
"We wouldn’t acquire the brand of Lord of the Rings if we were just thinking to maximise that potential over the coming year," says CEO Lars Wingefors.
Recently alongside by the Embracer Group, the Canadian studio will be known as Studio Onoma going forward, it's been announced.

Crystal Dynamics has confirmed that it has officially taken over ownership of Tomb Raider and Legacy of Kain, while Eidos Montreal has done the same for Deus Ex and Thief.
