The multiplayer title will be delisted from online stores starting March 3rd, 9 PM PT alongside DLC, RP Boosters and the Premium Pass.

Capcom’s terrible multiplayer title, Resident Evil Re:Verse, is shutting down. It will be delisted on March 3rd, 9 PM PT from digital storefronts and servers shut down on June 29th, 11:59 PM PT. Included with Resident Evil Village, it won’t be available with the title past March 3rd.

Character and creature skins alongside the Premium Pass and RP Boosters will also be removed from sale. Current owners can still play while servers remain up, though they won’t retain anything, including Premium Pass rewards.

Regarding the title’s end of service, Capcom said that Re:Verse “was developed in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil series, and your overwhelming support for the game has far exceeded our expectations since the time of its release.” It’s now reached a “new turning point for the series” and feels that “Resident Evil Re:Verse has served its original, celebratory purpose admirably.”

The player numbers, at least on Steam, tell a different story. Re:Verse peaked at a dismal 2,115 concurrent players per SteamDB and has seen double-digit figures since December 2022. The last 24 hours saw a whopping 18 concurrent players online at this time of writing. It’s perhaps more surprising that servers have remained online for so long.

Resident Evil Re:Verse is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC.

New DLC skins have also been added for Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, which resemble their appearances in Resident Evil 5.

Capcom’s multiplayer title Resident Evil Re:Verse has received its first big update since launching several weeks ago. It adds a new Battle Stage, “Village,” which is the setting for Resident Evil Village (if the rundown buildings and hanging skulls didn’t give it away). There’s also a new playable character, Tundra.

Along with the village square, the Village offers numerous open areas to battle. As for Tundra, she’s a member of Chris Redfield’s Hound Wolf Squad and specializes in poison. She can apparently “bewilder” opponents before striking hard, but her kit has yet to be detailed.

Two new DLC character skins are also available to purchase. There’s the Gun Show skin for Chris and Jill’s Battle Suit, both from Resident Evil 5. Players can also purchase a Deluxe Premium Pass that includes skins for Leon and Ada, and other rewards.

Resident Evil Re:Verse is available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Stay tuned for more details on future updates.

Capcom has announced details about the early acccess period for its multiplayer spin-off Resident Evil Re:Verse, which will kick off on October 24.

Capcom has announced that its multiplayer spin-off, Resident Evil Re:Verse, will include cross play multiplayer, is set to kick off its early access period on October 24 until October 26. The full release is set to happen on October 28. Check out the trailer below.

The new trailer for Resident Evil Re:Verse shows off the most we’ve seen of the game in a while. As can be seen from the trailer, the visuals have been upgraded to quite a considerable level.

Resident Evil Re:Verse will be free for owners of Resident Evil Village on any of its platforms. The multiplayer game will feature cross play, allowing players across platforms to play with each other.

Originally planned for release a while ago, Resident Evil Re:Verse got delayed a number of times before ending up at its October 28 release date. The game went through a long development period, with a number of beta periods along the way.

Resident Evil Village is receiving a barrage of new content in October, including an expansion starring Rose, new Mercenaries content, and more.

Resident Evil Village’s DLC was announced a year ago, but other than confirming that it was in development, nothing was said about it. At the recent Capcom Showcase, Capcom fully lifted the lid on that- and boy, there’s a lot to unpack here.

For starters, there’s Resident Evil Village: Shadows of Rose. This expansion is set 16 years after the events of the base game and sees you playing as Rose, Ethan’s daughter. It’s a completely third person experience that sees Rose traveling into the consciousness of the megamycete, where she’ll be fighting against not only creatures and monstrosities, but the environments themselves.

Other new content headed to the game will come in the form of Mercenaries: Additional Orders. This will add quite a bit to the Mercenaries mode, including new levels, as well as new playable characters such as Chris Redfield, Heisenberg, and yes, even Lady Dimitrescu. When you’re playing as Lady D, you’ll be eight feet tall and tower over your enemies.

Finally (and this is bound to intrigue series fans), Resident Evil Village is also adding a third person mode. The entire game will be playable in third person, with new animations designed for it- and yes, we finally get to properly see Ethan’s face.

All of this combined is part of a single package dubbed by Capcom as the Winters’ Expansion. It will launch on October 28, and the same day will also see the launch of Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition, which will include both the base game and the expansion content.

Finally, Resident Evil Re:Verse has also resurfaced at long last. The PvP multiplayer game will launch on October 28 as well, though Capcom has provided almost no new details on it.

Resident Evil Village is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. The game has sold 6.1 million units to date, and is also currently in development for PlayStation VR2.

Resident Evil's rotten luck with PvP multiplayer continues.

Resident Evil has just the worst, most rotten luck with PvP multiplayer. Capcom’s long-running survival horror franchise has tried its hand at all kinds of multiplayer several times over the years, and at least when it comes to co-op, the series has seen plenty of success. The likes of Resident Evil 5, Revelations 2, and the Outbreak games are prime examples of that. But when you come to the PvP side of things, the series’ track record begins to look rather horrible. 2016’s The Umbrella Corps, for instance, might arguably be the worst Resident Evil game ever made, and while 2020’s Resident Evil Resistance is far better and certainly has the advantage of a solid concept, it fails in its execution and comes across as yet another unpolished cash grab that didn’t receive anywhere close to the sort of support that it would have needed to be successful.

But Capcom’s nothing if not persistent- or stubborn, depending on how you look at it. The Japanese company, for whatever reason, remains adamant that PvP is still an area where Resident Evil can see some success, and it’s got another experiment lined up on that front. Resident Evil Re:Verse was announced in early 2021, confirmed as a PvP multiplayer deathmatch game that would see popular series characters and locations crossing over into a single game. At the time, Capcom said the game would be bundled for free with Resident Evil Village (though it would also be available for purchase separately for those who wanted it)- and yet, here we are, a year and a half later, and Re:Verse is nowhere to be found.

So what the hell is going on with it, exactly?

It’s hard to answer that question, because at this moment in time, it feels like not a single soul cares about the game in the slightest- including Capcom. Resident Evil Re:Verse didn’t get the strongest reception when it was first unveiled last year, which wasn’t surprising in the slightest, considering the series’ multiplayer track record. Its concept is certainly a cool one, and there are some good gameplay ideas in there, but as ever, it felt like Resident Evil was half-assing its multiplayer attempts in an attempt to grab a crowd that it had never quite managed to capture.

Re:Verse had multiple playable betas in the months following its announcement, and the consensus was pretty much always the same- that it had some neat ideas, but it felt like a half-baked idea, and just wasn’t remotely polished enough to be anything more than another footnote in the series’ troubled multiplayer history. Most people who played it were confident that it would come out, and within a few days of launch (if that), it would be completely forgotten. At this point, even those seem like generous predictions.

Because it never came out. Initially, the plan was to launch Resident Evil Re:Verse in Summer of 2021, a couple of months after the launch of Resident Evil Village. In July, however, Capcom announced that the game had been delayed to 2022. And after that, it was complete and utter radio silence. For the next several months, no one so much as brought up Resident Evil Re:Verse even in passing, and no one seemed to care, because no one demanded to know what was going on with it. At most, people would ask bemused questions about whether that had already launched and been forgotten, or if it hadn’t, if it was even still a thing. There were some, in fact, who lamented the terrible effect Re:Verse had on Resident Evil Resistance, a game that could possibly have seen meaningful improvements with post-launch support- post-launch support that it never got because Capcom shifted all focus and resources to a game that… well, a game that still isn’t out, a year and a half after its announcement.

In May of 2022, however, it looked like things were beginning to ramp up again. Resident Evil Re:Verse received a new classification rating for the ESRB, which not only claimed that the game had also added PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Stadia as its native platform releases (it had previously only been confirmed for PS4, Xbox One, and PC), but also suggested, as classification ratings for games without release dates do, that it was relatively close to launch, and that, as such, a long-overdue update on the could could arrive soon, perhaps showing off a revamped version and even revealing a new launch date or window.

But of course, that didn’t happen. We did recently get some pretty significant Resident Evil updates. Resident Evil 4’s ground-up remake was officially announced after roughly a couple of years of leaks and rumours, and Capcom also confirmed that Resident Evil Village is in development for PlayStation VR2. Series fans couldn’t be happier, honestly, because those are both excellent, crowd-pleasing announcements, and there’s little doubt in anyone’s mind that both those experiences are going to be impressive in their own rights.

Even so, that Re:Verse update that was looking likelier now than it had in nearly a year did not come. Even now, we’re left wondering what the deal is what that game. Given how long it has been delayed, one would assume that it received quite the development overhaul, but again, given Capcom’s history with PvP Resident Evil, it’s hard to be optimistic on that front. Either way, the question of where the game is and when we will hear about it next lingers.

There’s every chance that a Resident Evil Re:Verse update is coming soon, probably in the next few days. Given how many major events are coming up throughout this month, we wouldn’t be surprised if the game did show up again- in fact, it’s very unlikely that it doesn’t. At this point, however, it’s worth asking the question- does anyone care? Capcom’s radio silence over Re:Verse these last 10 month has been weird not only because of its own nature, but because of how people have reacted to it- or not reacted to it. The game was promised as a free add-on to those who spent money on Resident Evil Village, and by now, people would very much be within their rights to be demanding to know why Re:Verse still hasn’t arrived. Ordinarily in these situations, many would even be up in arms about it. It’s not like Village’s disappointing Mercenaries mode did much to tide people over until something new came along, right?

But people have reacted to Re:Verse’s absence with complete ignorance at worst, and a shrug at best. That’s probably the worst possible reaction that Capcom could have expected. Even strong, vocal dislike is preferable to apathy. At this point, even if Re:Verse does come back (which it probably well in the next few days), it’s hard to see a way back for it. Before it even launched, Capcom has killed its chances at success simply by the way they’ve handled things since its reveal.

Of course, there’s a chance that I end up eating crow over these statements, and Capcom re-reveals a completely overhauled Resident Evil Re:Verse that blows people away. It’s a small, small chance though, if that, and it would have to be something really, truly special for people to bring themselves to care about it. That’s how little everyone cares about the game right now. Ultimately, my hope is that the lesson Capcom learns from this is that people don’t want PvP Resident Evil, and co-op is where the money lies. Just make another Outbreak game, Capcom.

It's been nearly a year since Capcom's last official communication about the multiplayer game, but it could finally be approaching launch.

Remember Resident Evil Re:Verse? No one would blame you if you forgot. First announced in early 2021, the multiplayer PvP title had a few betas not long afterward, and seemingly, it was set to launch in the year’s summer window. In July 2021, however, Capcom announced that the game had been delayed to 2022– and went completely radio silent after that.

That was the last official communication on Resident Evil Re:Verse from Capcom, but it seems the game might finally be gearing up to resurface. That’s thanks to a recent classification rating for it by the ESRB, which could potentially suggest that it’s approaching launch- or at least approaching a state where Capcom is ready to speak about it again.

Interestingly, the classification rating also lists PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Stadia among the game’s target platforms, which is significant because until now, it has only been officially announced for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

With Summer Game Fest coming up soon, it’s possible that Capcom decides to re-reveal the game. What they managed to do with all the additional development time remains to be seen, but either way, it’s probably going to be worth keeping an eye on.

The PvP multiplayer shooter was originally supposed to launch alongside Resident Evil Village, but has now faced a second delay.

Resident Evil Re:Verse has been delayed a second time. The multiplayer shooter was originally supposed to launch alongside Resident Evil Village, which released this past May, but Capcom confirmed before the horror game’s release that Re:Verse had been pushed to a July launch window.

Now, in a tweet, the Japanese publisher has confirmed that Resident Evil Re:Verse has been pushed back once more, this time to 2022. Capcom says the additional time will allow the development team to “continue working to deliver a smooth gameplay experience” and that further launch details will be shared “at a later time.”

Resident Evil Re:Verse be a team vs team deathmatch game, with each team having 4-6 players and battling against each other in maps from various Resident Evil games. Series characters such as Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Jill Valentine will be playable, while players will also be able to transform into bioweapons such as Jack Baker, Nemesis, and Mr. X upon meeting certain requirements.

Whenever it launches, Resident Evil Re:Verse will be available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility. Those who own Resident Evil Village will get acceess to the multiplayer title for free.

2021 is a big year for Resident Evil, with Capcom’s celebrated survival horror franchise turning 25. That’s a special anniversary, and it’s being marked in several ways. While the imminent launch of Resident Evil Village is obviously going to be the headlining event, Capcom has other things in the pipeline as well. PvP multiplayer title Resident Evil Re:Verse, for instance, is also in the works, and has been receiving betas over the last few weeks. Now, we might also know when the game will launch in full.

Capcom recent sent out emails to members of its Resident Evil Ambassadors program, in which they mentioned the upcoming Resident Evil Village demo. Following that, they also spoke briefly about Re:Verse, and interestingly enough, mentioned that it is “scheduled to begin in the summer of 2021.” Take a look below.

Resident Evil Re:Verse, whenever it launches, will be available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and will also be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility. If you purchase Resident Evil Village, you’ll get access to Re:Verse for free.

The beta is open to anyone.

Capcom has announced a third beta for Re:Verse, the upcoming multiplayer shooter included for free with Resident Evil Village, and this time it’s open to everyone who wants to play.

In case you’re not familiar with Re:Verse, it’s a six player multiplayer game that features iconic characters and maps from the series. The goal is to collect virus samples scattered throughout the map. When you die, you transform into a monster based on how many virus pickups you’ve obtained. Players can also transform into series baddies like the Nemesis to wreak further havoc.

The beta will be available to anyone who downloads it from the Xbox, PlayStation, or Steam stores, and will run for 24 hours. You’ll need a Capcom ID in order to play. There have been three previous betas for Re:Verse- a closed beta took place earlier this year, and Capcom held two open betas earlier this month, so there’s plenty of footage out there if you want to see how Re:Verse plays before downloading it.

What we’ve seen of Re:Verse looks pretty arcadey but fairly unremarkable so far, but Resident Evil has a long history of sneaky good multiplayer games with things like Resident Evil 5‘s versus mode and Resident Evil 6‘s Mercenaries mode, though their more traditional multiplayer options have received more mixed receptions overall. Hopefully, RE: Verse manages to tap into what makes the series great.

We’ll all find out for sure when Resident Evil Village releases on May 7th, 2021.

On PS4 and Xbox One, those who have already downloaded the beta's client will be able to participate.

The PvP deathmatch multiplayer title Resident Evil Re:Verse might not be a game many are keenly anticipating, especially with Village launching soon, but the game at least has an interesting enough premise for series fans to be eyeing it with some curiosity. Capcom recently held an open beta for the game to give players a chance to jump in and see how it’s shaping up, but matchmaking issues turned out to ruin the fun for a large number of people.

Thankfully, Capcom is going to give it another shot. The company has confirmed on Twitter that an additional beta period of the game will be held imminently. It will go live tomorrow, on April 14 at 3 PM JST (which would be 11 PM Pacific Time), and will remain live until April 16 at the same time.

On PS4 and Xbox One, only those who have already downloaded the previous beta’s client will be able to participate. However, on Steam, even new players can participate in the additional beta test.

Resident Evil Re:Verse will be free for anyone who purchases Resident Evil Village, which launches on May 7. New details and gameplay footage on both games will be shared soon, on April 15, in a new Resident Evil Showcase. A second for the latter is also likely to go live very soon.
