Masahiro Sakurai – the creator and director of the Super Smash Bros. series – has revealed that he has been working on his next project for over two years.
Codenamed Pool Party, the game was going to be focused on esports and had a 70-80-person team working on it until its cancellation in May.
Masahiro Sakurai also says he "can’t really imagine a Smash Bros. title" without himself at the helm as things stand right now.
Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai has taken to YouTube to talk about why he believes online multiplayer isn't the right fit for the Smash Bros. franchise.
Serious creator and veteran director Masahiro Sakurai says that if Super Smash Bros. does continue, it will have to scale down in Ultimate's wake.
"If we’re going to continue with the series, Nintendo and I need to discuss and seriously consider how to make it a success," says Masahiro Sakurai.
