Tales from the Borderlands sequel

Tales from the Borderlands is regarded by many as one of Telltale’s best games to date, delivering solid characters, storytelling, and humour in an interactive adventure title that appealed to Borderlands fans as much as it did to series newcomers. In a surprising announcement, Gearbox has announced that it’ll be getting a sequel soon.

A brand-new Tales from the Borderlands game is in development, and unlike the first game, it’s being developed by Gearbox itself, and will be published by 2K. Offering a similar interactive adventure experience, the new Tales from the Borderlands game will feature a new cast of characters and tell an entirely new story.

Gearbox says that a full reveal for the game is scheduled for this summer, and that it’ll launch in 2022 itself. It’s an exciting announcement for fans of the first game, of course, though understandably, there are still some questions worth asking here. For starters, fans will be hoping that the sequel brings on at least part of the first game’s writing team, because that was where the experience really shone.

It’ll also be interesting to see whether any of the characters introduced in the new game make appearances in other future Borderlands games as well. After all, there was plenty of crossover between the original Tales from the Borderlands and Borderlands 3.

No platforms have been announced yet, while it also hasn’t been confirmed whether the game will be episodic like its predecessor or released in one go. Given that it’s been given a 2022 launch window, it could likely be the latter.
