Celebrating the addition of Bob to the Tekken 8 roster, Bandai Namco has released a new video that clocks in at 11 minutes to explain the character’s moves. The Bob Starter Guide, which you can check out below, lays out how the character uses combinations of powerful strikes that are backed up by his large frame and high agility. He also has a few defensive options, like reversals and the fast-starting Power Crush.
Among his “must-use moves” are the Abats Snipe launcher, the Onigiri Bomber advancing attack, and the Supermax Parade combo, which is described as being useful for when the opponent is stunned against a wall. The Giga Jacker can also be quite useful thanks to its Power Crush capabilities. The fact that it can be used off a Spinner Ball further adds to its versatility.
Speaking of which, the Spinner Ball can be used to kick off a variety of different moves. Along with being a simple roll that allows Bob to get closer to his opponent, players can also hit a variety of different buttons for unique outcomes. Pepperoni Fall, for instance, is an overhead kick that can transition into Spinner Ball, which can further be extended with moves like Lyonnaise Pressure.
For more advanced players, Bob also has a wave dash-style advancing step dubbed the United Step. It can be transitioned into a variety of moves, offering plenty of options for mix-ups before and after the step. For example, the Jumbo Pancake kick can flow into United Step, which can then finish off a combo with Gambero Spin Heel. Players looking for further combo potential can replace Gambero Spin Heel with a Toe Smash or a Cutting Coppa.
Bob can punish his opponents’ missteps quite easily with the Zip Cutter, which has a long reach, a fast startup, and can transition into Heat. Similarly, Perfect Body is a reversal move that can allow Bob to block potentially devastating combos right as they start.
During Heat mode, Bob further expands his arsenal with moves like Lyonnaise Lockdown a la Carte, Breaking Villain a la Carte, Verdict Pound a la Carte, and Prix Fixe Justice Beat, among others. As Tekken 8 veterans might have noted, these moves can be further expanded in a variety of ways depending on Bob’s state at the end of the move. They also act as great ways to wrap up longer combos.
The starter guide wraps up the video with a host of recommended combos that will give new players an idea of Bob’s general gameplay style, which largely revolves around quick strikes and stance switches with moves like Spinner Ball and United Step.
Bob is available in Tekken 8 as part of Season Pass 3. Players who don’t already own the season pass will be able to access the character later this week, on August 25th. Tekken 8 is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The next Season 3 roster addition for the fighting game will be Yujiro Hanma from Baki the Grappler and is slated for release in early 2027.
