Almost nine years after the previous game’s launch, Bandai Namco’s Tekken 8 is out now for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Developed on Unreal Engine 5, it continues the saga of the Mishima clan, with Jin Kazama battling Kazuya Mishima.
Though the new Story Mode focuses heavily on Jin and his allies as they rebel against Kazuya, there are also Character Episodes for each fighter. These are more like Tekken 3’s Arcade Mode routes with unique endings. Players can also engage in Arcade Quest, creating a custom avatar and venturing through different arcades to become a champion Tekken 8 player.
The new Heat System and recoverable health feed into the title’s focus on aggression. Three new fighters – Reina, Victor and Azucena – also debut, while Super Ghost Battle allows for fighting the ghosts of other players (which continually evolve). Check out our review for more details. As for future content, Tekken 8 will receive four new DLC fighters in Season 1, starting with Eddy Gordo in Spring.
