The pancake technique – Jax (0:22)
Sometimes it isn’t the strike that is brutal, but the aftermath. A simple double slap from either side looks painful enough, but the way that the camera pans to show the opponent’s now two dimensional head just completes the fatality. Classic Jax right there.
The kiss of death – Kitana (1:06)
As with the Jax fatality itself, it isn’t the move that is freaky and gruesome. The idea of Kitana planting the kiss of death has been used in almost every MK game she features in, but the contorted animations applied to the foe on the receiving end are fairly brutal. It just doesn’t look quite right, making it all the more horrifying.
