Confirm (Powerful) Hardware Specs
Though Sony didn’t go into massive detail at their event, they did reveal a portion of the system’s innards a few days later, and it looks pretty impressive. Microsoft can’t be coy in their counter-attack. They need to lay out the 720’s CPU and GPU, and they need to make sure that it’s at least in the same ballpark as the PS4.
Show Diverse Multimedia Options
Though Microsoft often saw more hardware sales than Sony this generation, the Xbox 360 was definitely the loser in some areas. One of these areas was multimedia playback, with the built in Blu-ray drives giving the PS3 an edge when it came to HD movies. Whether or not Microsoft have struck up a deal with Sony regarding Blu-ray is still a matter of speculation, but it would help Microsoft’s cause immensely if they can show off diverse multimedia options on the Xbox 720.
Actually Show What the Console Looks Like
It’s such a small element of a console, but I sat through the whole PlayStation event desperate for a single glimpse of what the actual machine would look like. My curiosity was never satisfied, and it’s a shame really. After all, if I’m going to commit to having your console under my TV for the next 5-8 years, you better show me something that looks at least vaguely ergonomic. And no, I don’t mean the original PS3 design. Put me out of my misery Microsoft, and show me what the new system looks like soon.
