The Alan Wake Franchise Has Sold 4.5 Million Units Worldwide

And still no new game!

One of the most underrated games of the previous generation was Remedy’s Alan Wake, which originally released for the Xbox 360, but later on also came to the PC. Allowing for a very different kind of game than is usually found on the market, the game would go on to become a cult hit, do well critically, receive a pseudo follow up in the form of the American nightmare standalone expansion pack, and, as it turns out, sell a whole bunch of copies too.

Remedy today announced that Alan Wake and American Nightmare have collectively sold 4.5 million copies worldwide. This includes sales of both, the Xbox 360 and the PC version.

Of course, as of right now, a sequel is unlikely- currently, Remedy is working on Quantum Break for the Xbox One, a third person game that looks every bit as likely to break the mould as Alan Wake and Max Payne did before it.

But I sincerely hope that after it is done, Remedy can go back to give us one more adventure starring everyone’s famous novelist.
